FORM, FUNCTION & FORAGE

Understanding the importance of forage in a horse’s diet is about more than knowing what looks and smells good or has a stellar analysis attached to it. It’s about knowing how your horse’s body is made and why it is specifically designed to function on a forage-based diet.

In this class we will discuss each anatomical component of the gastrointestinal system and why forage suits its function perfectly. We will also talk about Forage-First, Forage-Based and Forage-Only diets and the pros and cons of each.
